I made this watercolor in late October 2006 when the autumn colors were beginning to lessen. The weather was still warm. The Grant School is an historic landmark in Denver and since the early 1990s has been the home of the Art Students League of Denver. I did the painting from the garden sitting on a stone bench. I wasn't able to finish it in one sitting, so I returned the next afternoon and worked on it again from 3-5. I was lucky that the weather was clear and sunny both days. Unfortunately, the painting didn't make it into the exhibit because we had a problem with the frame. Maybe if something of this size sells soon, I can replace it with this at Grand Salon before the party on the 24th.
I love the composition and colors on this one. Did you major in art at Marymount? i spent a lot of weekends in the design studio when everyone else was out on dates!
