I painted this in September after a wonderful trip to the Jackson Hole area between Wyoming and Idaho. We stayed with friends in Victor, Idaho and this is a view of the large valley ringed by mountains. One day we saw this weather phenomenon, a virga, as my husband informed me. Basically it is when rain forms in the sky but doesn't quite hit the ground.
This was a bit or a outlier from the Plains series but it was all so beautiful and memorable I had to paint it. It is 36" x24" and was purchased at the Open Studio in December. I will miss it but it is in a good home with a true art lover. So I guess that means I am back to the studio to get more work done...
