Finalmente
the last painting in the series.
It has been revealing to work on the 20 paintings. I now understand better what I was doing and how the paintings relate to how I visualize cities and architecture.

Where are you going?
completed December 16, 2008- I like toy blocks, the colors and regular shapes. I see cities as if they were made up from blocks.

Galleria
A smaller painting, 10" square on a masonite panel. I am glazing layers of color and it works well on this surface. I plan to do more. The surface is hard to photograph since it has greater depth in the painting.
Holy City
I struggled with this painting and thought I would have to give it up. I went back to it and now I like it.

Latest look
definitely not the final arrangement but I like to see them together as I go along.
Now I am thinking- 5 across and 5 down- 25 instead of 20? 100" x100" is that more symmetrical than 80" x100" 20 20"x20"?
Places I Know
Titles are funny- I have a hard time with them. But as I continue on this group of paintings I am realizing that the series is about place. whether it is Mexico, Italy or Colorado, each painting is about something I have seen and has been imprinted on my memory. The series is a catalog of sorts, hence my desire to display it as a group. It is more than a list and close to a snapshot; a reminder of my experience of a moment and the mysteries of a particular place. No people, no nature, just the man-made buildings and streets.
