what is wrong with the artworld today
see the article below from today's NY times which explains how investors are using the art market in ways that undermine museums and serious collectors. The art market has always been based in 19th century traditions of trust. Obviously that is now over.

New painting
I wanted to move away from traditional watercolor paper and found this beautiful handmade paper. I used the back, which has no sizing, so it absorbed a ridiculous amount of paint. Since I was moving away from some of the constraints of traditional watercolor technique, I added white and black which really made it pop.

I wish I could have seen the exhibit of Winslow Homer watercolors at the Art Institute of Chicago through May 11th.
