My terrific designer
I'd like to give a big shout out to Connie Robertson of http://communicatewhatmatters.com
who did the design for my new book, Is This How it Will be?
Connie is not only superbly talented but a smart and wonderful collaborator. She has the rare ability to listen to your ideas with respect and empathy and help make them visually stunning.
She didn't want a credit in the book so here it is... Thank you Connie...

My book is out!
It is wonderful to have it out and now to wait to see how readers respond. It's personal and there were times I wondered if I wanted to make it public but now I'm glad I did. So happy that our local bookstore http://tatteredcover.com is carrying it in 3 stores in Denver. It is also on Amazon.com for those who aren't in Denver.

Night Sky Series
I have been working on this series in 2014 and they are hard to photograph, however this is pretty close. I have painted a series of 6 small painting on wood panels, each 12" x12". I then completed a larger painting on canvas- soon to post and now am working on an even larger canvas. It seemed a logical progression from the sky series and reflects my interest in deep space. I love the images from the Hubble telescope but my paintings are my own memories of night skies. Have you been watching Cosmos?

open studio this Saturday
Looking forward to the annual Dry Ice Factory Open Studio Saturday, December 14th from 12-5. Some of the newest pieces are a 6 part, oil on wood panel 12" x12" each Prairie Sunrise/Sunset that can be sold as 2 sets of 3 each for $600 or all 6 for $1200.
Valley is a small oil on canvas, 10"x12" in a black shadowbox frame SOLD
somehow the wonders of the digital medium make Valley look big and Prairie small. Go figure.

more from Plains series
light and space- I find as the paintings become more minimal they are closer to what I want.
Ecco on top is one of my favorites. 36" x24" $750 oil on canvas
but I love the warmth and sense of infinite space of July 20" x60" $950 oil on canvas

Denver Art Museum
There is so much to see at the Museum this summer and it will take multiple visits to see it all. I have spent an afternoon at the Spun exhibit and there is still much more to see. The Nick Cave show is spectacular and this Friday there will be a performance of his work at Civic Center.
What may get overlooked is the jewel of an exhibit of early work by Mark Rothko. A big plus of this excellent show is that it is next door to the Clyfford Still Museum. I hadn't realized how Still had influenced Rothko and it is very evident in the exhibit. For any painter the show is a must-see and for anyone who wants to understand how an artist develops his ideas. The magnificent Rothko's from the 1960s didn't just spring fully formed from his brush. There were years of development as he worked through ideas and influences ranging from Picasso, Andre Masson, Still and even Milton Avery. It is all there and I can't wait to return.

new work
We took a trip to the eastern plains of Colorado in May. It is a landscape that touches me deeply- now even more so after reading The Worst of Time about the dust bowl in the 1930s. Light and air- all qualities in my abstract work are front and center in these new paintings.
top May 13 oil on canvas 20" x60" $950
middle Road to Bent's Old Fort oil on canvas 36" x36" $900
bottom 10 AM Commanche Grasslands oil on paper 22" x15" unframed $350
